WHY
Litter poses an immense threat to not only the environment, but also the social and economic well being of a community or greater society. It can result in a decreased motivation to visit an area, severe implications on the entire ecosystem. Litter also can cause safety, fire, and health hazards, as well as indirect health hazards stemming from bacteria, rats, roaches, and mosquitos that are attracted to the waste. In some cases, litter can even be predictive of a decline of socially acceptable behavior and an increase in crime rates.
2 x 2 mapping is yet another visualization tool in contextual research. It is used for creating overview, comparing facilitates and identifying opportunities. Researchers begin by inputting the determined datasets into a two-by-two intersecting attribute scale to be compared, which, in this case, the scale includes low connections versus high connections and desirable connections versus essential connections. In such a scale, the positions of the entities determine how they are related to one and how important they are to the project.
